PCC Headley with Box Hill

Two Bible Study Groups
The Tree Bible Study Group.     Each Sunday we hear the lectionary readings in church.  Each Saturday at 12.00 in the Tree Pub on Box Hill Road, we meet to talk about the lectionary readings for the next day.  By discussing them and thinking about them, we have a better understanding of the meaning and the questions they raise when we hear them in the service.  No notification.  Join us.  You are welcome.

A second Bible Study Group is run periodically at St Andrew's by Joan Stocker.  The current session is being run on Thursday evenings 6.30pm for 6.45pm from 10th September to 10th December.  Everyone is welcome.

Join the Parish Prayer Network
This Network puts you in touch with others who want to pray, each day, in their own way.   Everyone on the Network receives two short messages a week about prayer.  Each message not more than 30 words.    You can receive messages by email or on Facebook.
It’s easy to try it for a short time.  Send your email address to charlesholme@aol.com and say whether you would like to be on email or Facebook, or if you have any questions.

PRAYER REQUESTS

Daily Prayer is part of the Spiritual Ministry of the parish.   With God’s help, we want to develop it to include regular prayers for healing, to help people cope with all barriers to health and wholeness.

What we do now:

There is a communion service each Wednesday ay 10.00 in St Mary’s which includes a response to requests for prayers.  This is a simple service during which there are prayers of intercession for people and places.

All requests for prayer are welcomed and honoured.  We pray for each one by name (generally first names only) to ask God to be with them and to bring healing to their lives.

We remember too peoples who are suffering through war, injustice, and oppression, both nationally and internationally, and we ask God to bring justice, healing, love and forgiveness to these situations.

What we are adding this year:

New ways are being introduced to encourage Members of the Parish to make prayer requests.

1 There is a form available in St Andrew’s and St Mary’s as a hard copy with instructions about what to do.  Click here to obtain an electronic copy of the form to use for Prayer Requests.

2 At regular intervals members of the Prayer Network receive a list of names and situations of people in need of prayer.  We ask members to pray for them as part of their daily private prayers in the morning and evenings.  We ask particularly that at 10.00 am on a Wednesday they pray for the people on the prayer list and join their prayers at home with the prayers at the communion service at St Mary’s.

The future:

We are developing prayer in planned steps.

May He bless you and hear your prayers.
