Welcome to the Parish of Headley with Box Hill

We have two churches - St Mary's Headley and St Andrew's Box Hill.   See our Find Us and Services pages for details of what is on and how to get here.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT - Appointment of New Rector

The PCC is pleased to inform you that after nearly a year in Vacancy, a new incumbent, the Reverend Harry Latham, has been appointed to the United Benefice of Headley and Box Hill with Walton-on-the Hill. Harry is at present employed as Vicar of Stoke Poges in Buckinghamshire and will be joining us on 31st August.

Harry

We would like to thank you all for your prayers and patience during this time and also to thank the many visiting priests who have led and supported our services during the Vacancy. We look forward to welcoming Harry, his wife Tracy, and their children, for what we hope will be an exciting future for both parishes.

CHANGES TO SERVICE TIMES - A Note from our Churchwardens

As you will see above, on 31 August we formally welcome our new Rector, Rev Harry Latham, and his family to the parish. As you know, in order to appoint a full time incumbent we have formed a United Benefice with the adjoining Parish of Walton-on-the-Hill. Over the last few weeks Harry has met with the churchwardens and representatives from both parishes so that he can start to work out how best to share his time evenly between us. So that he can travel between churches on Sundays he plans to change the starting time of services in both parishes. The 8.00 am Prayer Book Communion is to continue, but once each month it will be a joint service with Walton-on-the-Hill alternating between St Mary’s and St Peter’s. The main services at St Mary’s and St Andrew’s will be brought forward and start at 9.30 am. The service at St Peter’s will start at the later time of 10.45 for 11.00 am.

The service of installation in the presence of Harry’s family and friends, the Bishop, Archdeacon, Rural Dean, visiting priests and regular worshippers will take place at St Mary’s Church on 31 August at 7.30 pm. This service will be by invitation only.  On his first Sunday, 3 September, he will officiate at the 8.00 am Prayer Book Communion at St Mary’s followed by a special Joint Benefice Family Communion Service at St Peter’s at 10.15 am instead of the 9.30 am and 11.00 am services mentioned above.

Although the times will change, for the first two months Harry intends to keep the same pattern of services at St Mary’s and St Andrew’s so the second Sunday will be a Joint Service at St Mary’s and the third Sunday he will be at St Andrew’s. Once Christopher is back at the beginning of November they will be able to divide their time between our two churches. When there is a fifth Sunday in a month there will be a United Benefice Family Communion Service at 10.15 am that rotates around the three churches.

We appreciate that there will be people in both parishes who find the changes difficult to manage at first. However, we hope that you are patient and support Harry as he settles into life among us. Until the end of August the current pattern and timing of services will continue with leadership from our excellent visiting priests and worship leaders.
